« on: Sunday 25 September 16 15:45 BST (UK) »
In 2004 we erected a warmemorial at Netersel(The Netherlands) in remembrance of an aircrew of a 149 sqdn Stirling bomber shotdown 29th June 1943. This with the attendance of the relatives of the pilot and Flightengineer. I have tried to get in touch with the other crew relatives but no luck sofar so hopefully I gave it another try with your help.

The information i have is from the CWGC Herbert.Sgt(Nav.Bomber) Carl Donald 1438154 RAF(VR) 149 sqdn.29th June 1943. Age 31.Son of James and Alice Mary Herbert; husband of Edyth Jane Herbert,of Southsea,Hampshire.
Bomber Command research during WW2 in the South Eastern part of The Netherlands. Especially aircraft crash research and locating their crews.

Edyth died in 1988 - still with surname Herbert, so looks like she didn't remarry.  Can't see any children from their short marriage, so any relatives would have to be siblings of CDH and their children.

James Herbert married Alice Mary Denton in 1907, Gainsbro.

There is a couple who I quite like the look of on the 1911 census - in York, James being a blacksmith.  They have a son called Noel Vincent Herbert.

Fortunately, there aren't that many Noel Vincent Herberts around!  Looks like he died in 1999.  I'm having a look for a marriage now.

Not looking too hopeful - the closest I've found to a relative so far is a child from the first marriage of Noel's first wife (so not related to Carl at all!)

I don't think it is going to be easy to find relations of CDH - I can't see any trace of his brother Noel having children of his own, although he did seem to have ?3 stepchildren
