John Lloyd marriage in Ebrington?
« on: Wednesday 28 September 16 16:29 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to help me with a marriage between John Lloyd born Ebrington 1812/13 and Ann born Stretton 1815/16.

I have them in 1861 at Ebrington and 1871 at Charingworth.

I can't find their marriage on FreeBMD or any birth registrations for their first two offspring, Moses 1844/45 and Isabella 1847/48, either. I can only assume they didn't marry till later and their first two childre were registered in her maiden name.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Mac

I think this is the family in 1851 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGZP-BG3  living in Ebrington with many additional children

In 1841 the John Lloyd with the first 2 children appear living in Stretton on Fosse without Ann

Ruth    Greenaway    70 Farmer
John    Loyd    25 Ag Lab
William Loyd 5
Richard Loyd 3
James Dyer  10

An online tree (usual caveats apply) has the marriage as 10 Oct 1835 at Ilmington in the names John Lloyd Greenway and Ann Beaucham.

Re the surname discrepancy, I see that Kay has found John with a Ruth Greenaway in 1841.

The son Richard (aged 3 in 1841) appears to have been baptised at Stretton, 20 May 1838 as Richard Greenway, son of John (labourer) and Ann, of Stretton.

And this appears to be Thomas baptised in 1840 so he should be on the 1841 census with mother Ann https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VH61-94B
