Thanks for all those replies.

As usual they seem to ask a lot more questions. Unfortunately I've been called away so I'm not able to evaluate them fully at the moment but I'll come back to you later.

Thanks again, Mac.

Good luck - I did notice that in 1871 John Lloyd lists his birthplace as Epwell, Oxfordshire so I  wonder whether this could be his baptism including mother Ruth  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRZD-8V2

I can't say how much I appreciate all this info.

I've found the marriage of John and Ann on FamilySearch and downloaded the actual document.

The Greenway name has led to more results but, as often happens, I've come across conflicting data. Looking on FreeBMD for Johns earlier children as Greenways I've found most of them but their births are 2 years previous to that suggested by the 1851 census!

I'm afraid I'm a bit slow assimilating all this info as I use a long winded way of recording my histories using HTML, but it gives me a very flexible system and I can do and include anything I want.

Tanks again, Mac

Hi All

Just a little follow up.

The Ruth Greenaway in Kay99's find in 1841 would seem to be fairly positively Johns mother. He's the oldest of 6 children -

Isabella Lloyd Greneway 1799
Mary Ann Lloyd Grenaway 1802
Richard Greenaway 1804
William Nimrod Lloyd 1809 - all from Family Search / IGI

Jane Lloyd 1896
John Lloyd Greenway 1813 from  Family Search and Johns marriage certificate.

From the variety in the naming (two of Johns children were registered as  Lloyd Greenways) I would assume that Richard and Ruth were never married even though her burial gives her as Ruth Lloyd.

Only time will tell.

Thanks again for all your time and interest.
