John Richards (Jnr), Llangadwaladr.
« on: Thursday 29 September 16 10:35 BST (UK) »
Hi.
I'm trying to  add more detail to my tree-entry for John Richards, (1835-1877), born at Hen Siop, Llangadwaladr
I have a pencilled note that he married a Margaret Owen, (B1839) but I haven't been able to fix a date for the marriage or any resulting family. In the 1861 John is at Llangadwaladr ... in the 1871 census a John and Margaret Richards of the correct age are shown at Llangristiolus.
There are no further details that I can find for them after this date. New facts would be welcome.

FindmyPast has this marriage, but have included it in Caernarvonshire marriages (presumably because Llangadwaladr, Anglesey is included in the Bangor sub-district). The witnesses were Owen Edwards and Robert Richards.

Many thanks to you both for your input. Do you have any children for this couple .... and what happened to Margaret after her husband's death in 1877. Family statistics would show at least 5 or 6 children.

There are no Anglesey birth registrations for children with father's name John Richards and mother's maiden name Margaret Owen (or Owens), so it seems they were childless.

Also I cannot find a death for Margaret Richards born ca. 1839 in Anglesey death registrations nor a remarriage in Anglesey for the widowed Margaret Richards.
But NorthWalesBMD has a Bangor civil marriage in 1879 between David Roberts and Margaret Richards (with the implication that it is a remarriage and Margaret's maiden name is Owen). FreeBMD have this marriage - David Roberts/Margaret Richards (+ 2 others) - June qtr 1879, Bangor 11b 806.
I think I have found them in 1881 - at Pontrhuffydd Farm, Henllan, Denbighshire (RG11, 5532, 130, 14) where Margaret Roberts (very helpfully!) gives her place of birth as Penryn Halen, Anglesey.

   Thank you Dragon T.
That seems to close the entry that I have for John Richards so well-done. I hate it when people in my tree seem to vanish without trace and this particular family at Hen Siop seems to have  been hit repeatedly by bad luck. John's parents, like him, died in their 40's and his sister died aged 15.
John's brother, David, continued to  prosper at Hen Siop. He had 7 children and remnants of the family are still shown at the farm in the 1911 census. Good luck, like bad luck, can strike at any time.
                           Regards, Peter.
