marriage lookup please st Andrews Coniston
« on: Thursday 29 September 16 21:20 BST (UK) »
I would like  to confirm the surname of William who married Jane BRIGGS on 26th Feb 1832, St Andrews church, Coniston. Also if possible any detail in the marriage of Isabella BRIGGS (possibly a second marriage for Jane's mother) to Richard VICKERS at the same church in 1836.
Any help much appreciated

Hi David thanks for your prompt reply and most helpful information, some more background to my search, I
am hoping to establish that Jane Briggs born 1812 Coniston, daughter of Thomas and Bella married William Jewell in Coniston in 1832, Jane consistently gives her place of birth as Coniston in the census from 1851 onwards when she is in Hartsop and Patterdale.  Her 3 children were christened in Cornwall and that is where they are in 1841.
I have been unable to find any other records of them in Cornwall though can follow Jane upto her death in north yorkshire in 1884.
I was hoping there would be some indication of age in the marriage of Isabella Briggs and Richard Vickers as in the 1841 census Richard Vickers is 30 and Isabella 55.
Any help much  appreciated.

Perhaps if you have the marriage for Thomas Briggs to Isabella
you would be able to find her baptism

there is one over the tops in Kirby,

St Cuthberts
15th June 1805
Thos Briggs
Isabella Postlethwaite
a few children baptised at St Cuthberts and then possibly moved nearer Coniston,

this Isabella if she was just 17 when she marries could be the daughter of Roger and Jane of Kirby
