Masons
« on: Saturday 01 October 16 16:11 BST (UK) »
Hello
This is a general enquiry about the Masons.
I have tracked my gt grandfather down as being a member of the Stockport Masonic Lodge no 287 via the Library and Museum of Freemasonry from 1863 to 1919.

However they also advised that he was the First Principal of the Chaptyer in 1901 of the Chapter of the Stone of Friendship Ezel No 287

Does anybody have any idea what the Chapter of the Stone of Friendship Ezel No 287 is/was and what was the connection to the Masonic Lodge.

Many thanks
Wattsy

Hi Wattsy

There's a very wordy definition of Masonic Chapters here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Royal_Arch

and more here

http://www.supremegrandchapter.org.uk/about-royal-arch-masonry/what-is-royal-arch-masonry

but you need some knowledge of Freemasonry to understand it all.
