Thank you. I need a basic search to just locate evidence of my grandfather's birth, where and when he was born and parents names. because boundaries and borders changed since his birth in late 19th c possible need to look at Lithuanian and Suwalki archives. His detals are:
Johan Barowski arrived in Melbourne in 1913 on merchant ship ‘Worms’. He was crew, alone and deserted (stayed when ship left). He had no proof who he was or where from, only his word in 1919 details on marriage certificate and in 1921 when naturalized. This is all I know.
His name Johan (Hans) Barowski (Barowsky, Barauskas, etc)
Nationality ‘Russian’ because Suwalki Gubernia was former Russian Territory when he left about 1910 -11.
Born December 1 1894, Suwalki Gubernia
I do not know which villiage.
Father Joseph Barowski – a wheelwright
Mother Mary Graziskas (Grazickas, Grazulis, etc
He died of cancer age 55 in Bendigo Australia in 1951.
He never spoke of his family but received letters from his mother for a number of years.
His parents ‘may’ have gone USA. Documents may be in Villnis or maybe at Suwalki, do you correspond with Suwalki Archives?
