Surrey Advertiser, Saturday 19 April 1941
Death of Mr J. G. Young
Mr. John Galbraith Young, of Oak Tree Cottage, East-road, St. George's-hill, died suddenly on Monday, aged 45 years. He was a keen sportsman and also a fine musician. Educated at Charterhouse, he served in the last war with the Leinster Regiment in France, was blown up in 1915, and sent back to England for a short time. He then joined the R.F.C., was shot down in aerial combat in August, 1917, and was a prisoner for the rest of the war. On returning to England in 1919 he joined the firm of Turquand, Youngs and Co.,* and later became staff manager. During the present war he had been a member of the Royal Observer Corps until he became ill. He leaves a widow and two daughters. The funeral took place on Thursday, with a service at St. Mary's Church, Oatlands Park, before interment at Burvale Cemetery.

Oh wow!!!

Bookbox, thank you so very much for the obituary. Wonderful to have that information. I had no idea he had served in the war and indeed had no knowledge of the rest of the details, other than that he left a widow and two daughters. [These names I do have.]

I do appreciate your help.  :)
