Margaret and George Taylor in India

Trying to find info on Margaret Taylor born 1826 in India and her father George Taylor. Margaret married William Amner in 1843, Fort William. A recent story in my family suggests that Margaret ended up in an orphanage in India and was married at 14, although her birth and marriage years calculate to 17. She ended up in NZ after the death of William, where she remarried Charles Raven. The name I have for her mother is Mary, but no idea if that is correct.

Per the marriage register George Taylor was a Private in H. M. 49th Regiment.

There are burials in Fort William in 1834:

August 5th: Mary Taylor, 31, wife of Private George Taylor, H M 49th Regiment

August 6th: George Taylor, 28, Private, H M 49th Regiment

Baptism at Berhampore:

15th February 1829  Margaret, born 15 January 1829 at Calcutta, daughter of George Taylor, Private H M 49th Regiment, and Mary his wife.

NB William Amner was also in 49th Regiment, a Lance Sergeant at the time of the marriage.

There's a birth for Margaret at Bermaphore,Bengal  in India
Margaret Taylor d of George and Mary Taylor born 15 Jan 1829 and baptised 15 Feb.
It says she was born at Calcutta and her father was a Private in HM 49th Regiment.

There is also a GRO regimental birth index 1829 Bermaphore 1363 47 so presumably you could order a birth certificate.

George died at the Regimental hospital 9.9.1834 age 29 years Private in the 49 th regiment buried Fort William burial ground Bengal.

The marriage for Margaret 9.3.1843 says she is underage and confirms her father and his regiment.They married by licence.Wit Jane Phillips and Henry Hampston?
They are living at Dum Dum

It is possible that George and Mary had another daughter Margaret 29.9.1822 at Dunn Dunn.
He is described as a gunner of Artillery.
This Margaret died 25.2.1824 at Dum Dum.

This is weird.
I've just found a marriage for George Taylor private of the 49th Regiment  4.11.1829 at Bermaphore.
to a Sarah Looking age 32 .He is 25 .
It's by banns witnesses Serg Thomas Glynn and Elizabeth Hickey and WH Armstrong 49 th regiment.

And looking at those deaths for George Taylor again there's two 9.8.1834 age 29 and 9.9.1833 age 28 both Private in the 49 regiment.
So beware!

Thank you everyone for the help. This is a lot further along than I was before. Has been confirmed through extended family that Margaret was very young at the time of her marriage. Still trying to ascertain which or indeed if she was in an orphanage, but it's looking most likely.
