5 Windsor Road Bournemouth
« on: Monday 10 October 16 00:06 BST (UK) »
Is it possible for someone to look up who were the occupiers of 15 Windsor Road, Bournemouth and 15 Windsor Road Christchurch in the 1939 Census?
I have a birth cert for a person in 15 Windsor Road, Bournemouth, but my mother said it may have been Christchurch, now I need to find out.
Potential occupiers I am looking for are either Bridie O'Rorke and William H Taylor. I would really appreciate any help at this point, because it would make some progress on my FH.
Thank you to anyone in advance.

There was no census in 1939? :-\

I presume you are referring to the 1939 National Register?

When were these people born?
Individuals’ records remain closed for 100 years from their date of birth (100 year rule).  Records remain closed for people born less than 100 years ago until proof of death is verified.

Presumably you are looking for the people from this marriage?

O'Rorke, Bridie A
Taylor, William J

Finally, in which town or city is St Johns?

Details from the 1939 National Register are only available via subscription, on FindMyPast.

But the indexes are free to search.

Living at 5 Windsor Road, Bournemouth were:
Eva Down and F?Yman Down (b1898).
Plus 1 more person who is officially closed.

Thank you KGarrad, sorry, I am rather new to this 1939 National register thing, I am trying to look up things in it and just keep drawing blanks, I have an Aunt whose birthcert states she was born at that address in Bournemouth in 1939, I now know from you, that she would not show on the list as she is under 100 years old, though her mother, Bridie O'Rorke was born in 1896 and William Taylor 1909, maybe either of them had not arrived at Windsor road by then.
You are right about the marriage details, that is my Grandmothers second marriage, though when she had two babies in 1937 and 1939(the 1937 one was in Cheltenham) there is no registered father, though she still went under her previously married name O'Rorke for both of the birth certs, even though her first husband died in 1929. her birth name was Cooke.
The name of the area, St John's comes from my Grandmothers burial records in Bournemouth, it states on the burial record that her address at time of burial was 5 Windsor Road, St John's, Hants, I know that the Address Windsor road is in Bournemouth, so I suppose it could be referring to the district it is in? I also know there is a Windsor Road in nearby Christchurch too, though that can't be likely if she is buried in Bournemouth?
We are thinking she kept the name for purposes of retaining a widows pension and may not have married William Taylor until later, but may have lived with him all along.
I have searched for Bridie on that find my past, but to just get any details like address or anything, it keeps asking me for that expensive subscription, which I cannot afford, especially that I probably won't use it after that. Thank you for your help and answering me back.

Hi Carol,
Haven't really got a clue what you are referring to, Brichie Bruke 1899? Is this of some relevance to what is being spoken about in this thread?
Please enlighten me  :D
All the best, and looking forward to your answer
