Miller family platt bridge wigan

Hi im new here so dont know how anything works, im interested  in finding info on my dads family in wigan lancs all my family in that area are either dead  or dont know any info, my dad was born in platt bridge in 1921 an called thomas miller any insights as to how i can search cheers

Hi, is your dad still alive as we can't discuss living people on this board.

Do you have your father's long birth certificate as that will give the name of his parents.  Alternatively his marriage certificate will provide his father's name.

It's best to start from what you know and work backwards - using certificates to verify info.

My dad is deceased but i cant find his birth certificate  but want to find my family  history  for my kids

There is an appropriate birth in Wigan in the period October - December 1921 with a mother's maiden name of WALL.  Is this the correct one?

Alice wall was his mam yes an think his dad was called William

Strange tho his birthday was in september? I wonder if his mam an dad was married at time so was registered  later

Parents have 42 days in which to register a birth so it is likely that a September birth would be registered in October.

Are Alice and William deceased?

Yes me grandad died during ww2 was killed in accident was gran alive when i was young
