I've found William on the Surrey electoral registers from 1936-39, at a property called Losely.  I wonder if he was live-in domestic staff as there appear to be a number of people with unconnected surnames at that address

Are you sure that is the same one as in Sept 1939 a William I Neve is in Sussex?

There's a woman on the electoral register in London in the 1930s (including 1939) with the same name as the person in Cuckfield. However she is with a William Albert, and trees suggest her maiden name was Meek. This could get a bit confusing!

The only way to prove or disprove that death would be to get the certificate and hope one of the children registered it.

I agree....as Ancestry estimates her birth at marriage as 1884.

Are you sure that is the same one as in Sept 1939 a William I Neve is in Sussex?

I believe that the correct entry is the one in Surrey as he is listed with the right occupation.

I think anything is possible! There are three dates for her given at different times, her death registration gives her birth date as1881 and the 1939 census says 1887, and her marriage details suggest 1884!?

This is why there is so much conjecture as to you was you!

Kathleen Jones Neve was adopted into the family in 1930. There's an entry for her in the adopted childrens index.

The GRO fiche is a real mess so I've emailed them to ask for the correct reference numbers and will let you know, but it won't be until after the weekend now.

Explains the age gap, most probably really wanted another child and couldn't have one naturally.
