Looking for some help on this marsh Family
« on: Tuesday 25 October 16 03:18 BST (UK) »
I seem to of come up against a brick wall and need help with this family.
I have George marsh christened 14/6/1752 In Worksop .
His parents are George and Mary and here is where I am stuck. ??? I am trying to find a marriage for this couple and marys maiden Name .
I have roughly put the marriage at 1749 to 1751 and Georges Age round 1730 to 1735.
I am having no luck with the marriage and Birth records at all.
Hoping  someone else may  have better luck then I am having . Maybe this couple lived else where and only the children were all born in Worksop.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Maggie May

The only Marriage I can find that seems to fit is in Yorkshire and there are 2 dates for it on Familysearch.Org;
George MARSH to Mary BARKER
4 May 1751, Laughton En Le Morthen, York, England
30 Apr 1751, York, England, both age 21 (can just mean of full age, ie over 21)

I see on FreeREG George/Mary Baptised Worksop;
George 1752/Mary 1754/John 1757/Robert 1759/Elizabeth 1762

There is a Burial of MARY Marsh inn Worksop, 24 Feb 1802 age 77 (birth c1725)

I may be worth following up this couple in Yorks to see if they had any Children there or if disappeared after that Marriage from Yorks.

That was quick Trish to reply.

I did look at the marriages in York but thought it maybe too far from Nottingham but maybe not,  so maybe worth a follow up.
This family and other generations never seemed to go too far away apart from going to New Zealand in the 1800's they seemed to of settled at Worksop and Leverton in Nottinghamshire . I am not familar with this area as not been there at all.

The death of Mary in Worksop is worth a follow up as well.

 Thanks.

Hi,

Just to let you know Laughton En Le Morthen Yorkshire is only 8 miles from Worksop Nottinghamshire so just over the Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire border.
Branfoot of Leeds; Nall of Nottingham; Wallis of Stapleford Nottinghamshire; Challand of  East Bridgford Notinghamshire: Hall of Fransfield Nottinghamshire;
Morral of Stanton By Dale, Derbyshire;
