Will of John Rudach
« on: Wednesday 26 October 16 05:23 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help with the Will of John Rudach, April 1766, London.  Place - Foreign Parts.

It may be the Will of my ancestor as he was a soldier with no fixed home base and may have made this Will either when stationed abroad or when in London after returning from abroad.  He was born in Marnoch, Banffshire in April 1732 to George Rudach.  He later married and had a daughter, Margaret Ruddock/Riddoch, apparently born Petty, Inverness around 1780.  The spelling of the surname changed at some point after John's birth and Margaret was always known as Riddoch until she married John McManus and settled in Elgin, Morayshire.

Any tips, help or advice would be much appreciated!

The will you mention is for a John Rudach - Coopers Mate - of the good ship Lord Bute in the honourable East India Service. He leaves his estate to his good friends Herbert Bright (Victualler) and his wife Elizabeth of Rotherhithe or their survivors

Hello
Thank you so much for your response with the information about John Rudach.  It seems as if this is another John Rudach, not my ancestor who, as far as I am aware, was not a mariner in the employ of the East India Company.

I appreciate your help, thank you.  :)
