Pattinson/Scrugham marriage?? COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 29 October 16 16:30 BST (UK) »
Anyone got any thoughts on this.
Wilson Pattinson married Sarah Scrugham 28th december 1833 in Isel, Cumberland, but they also according to ancestry records married same day, same year but in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire.
Sarahs parents John Scrugham and Anne Bowe married 24th may 1798 both in Isel and Burton upon Trent.
Am I going mad or is there a perfect reasonable explanation for this?

Are you looking at the banns, or at the marriage records?

There's a baptism for Sarah Scrugham:
8th July 1807 (Birth 30 March 1807) at Isell, Cumberland
Sarah Scrugham, daughter of John Scrugham and Ann Bowe

So, I would guess that you have found the banns?
To be called in both the bride's parish and the groom's parish.

It's very confusing KG, the other major site F M P says the same thing for both marriages "Marriage Place" Burton on Trent in one record, Isell on the other.

One obviously is the Banns record but both sites say the marriages took place in both places :-\

Neither were born in Burton upon Trent, so I cannot understand why the marriage would take place there.

The Isel marriage has an actual date.

The Burton one just has the year - Banns would be read on 3 occasions (prior to the marriage), so no actual single date.

Is it not also strange that the same thing has happened with Sarahs parents, same date and year but in both Isel & Burton upon Trent.
