Bishops Transcripts?
« on: Saturday 05 November 16 10:25 GMT (UK) »
As a newbie, I am trawling through all the new terminology - I have found a good online page for the acronyms used, as I have come across "BT ONLY" against one of my relative's marriage.
I understand it means BISHOPS TRANSCRIPTS ONLY".
What does this mean?
Can I "view" this as a record?
I was using the Cornwall Family History Society database.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Haddock

When I was starting out I found the Gen Guide quite handy in giving an overview subjects that were new to me.  Here's what they say on BT's:

https://www.genguide.co.uk/source/bishop-transcripts-bts-parish/26/

In the case you mention either the only surviving record is the BT, or this is the only document they have transcribed.  You should be able to view it at the records office or it may be online at one of the subscription sites, or possibly Family Search.

Scroll down to the bottom of any RootsChat page, and click on Reference Library.
Then select RootsChat Lexicon from the menu bar ;D
