Burial and Cemetery
« on: Sunday 06 November 16 11:28 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,

I am finding the burial or cremation and the cemetery, of my Great Grandmother a loss.

She was born 1865 4th May at 9 Aughton Street, Everton, West Derby, as Florence Alice Gardner Smith.

Her parents being Edward Gardner Smith and Mary Paynter

She married John Thomas Spargo in 1890.

Then married James Atherton Downham in 1899 after the death of John.

She died 1926 16th December in Liverpool.

So in conclusion where is she resting ??????!!!!!!

Have you got her death cert which shows her address at death?

This will narrow down where she most likely is as historically people were buried closer to home.

What religion? this often has a bearing on the location of burial plots too.

Possibly one of the Liverpool City Council cemeteries.  Everton or Kirkdale possibly, Everton is divided up into sections for different denomination s

Looking at the probate record she died in 1925 not 1926. She died on 16 Dec 1925. Her address was 6 Kildonan Road Aigburth Liverpool. I would think she would have been buried at Allerton Cemetery.

Acknowledgement of thanks received by private message so details correct. Family Search now have Wirral burial records I thought I would look at them as Florence lived over the water for some years. Nothing for her at Flaybrick, Wallasey or Bebington cemeteries on Wirral. Allerton Cemetery is the main council cemetery covering the south of the city.

Toxteth Park Cemetery's records are online but the use of this cemetery declined after Allerton opened in 1909 and Florence is not buried there. Allerton Cemetery burial records are not online you would need to contact Liverpool City Council. As you have a date of death and address they may do a free look-up otherwise it might cost for a search of the records.
