to DUNCANO  the Basil you refer to was my Gr Gr grandfather I think he would have been a cousin he was born in 1800 his father was Edwin. The family were all gentlemen farmers ie they had land, and some rented from the absentee landlords which they in turn rented to tenants who worked the land for them.I have sent a reply to lfh re the family Debt problems I would also have an up date on maystan Sandys they are connected

Hi  This may be off interest to those following the Edward / Alexander  sandys lines.
In the Marriage Licence Bonds of Elphin I found an entry for Alexander Sandys and Margaret Sandys in 1813, with a futher entry for Alexander Sandys and ?       for 1833 which may explain the spread of children. really the most clues as to their lives may be in the estate papers for the Pakenham-Mahon family most of which are in the national library in Dublin. or at Strokestown

Hi all,

After a very long break I'm returning to my Family History.
Shirley and I attended the Sandys' Reunion a couple of years ago
- lovely time!

We are coming over to Roscommon a week on Monday for
a two week holiday - staying in Roscommon Town (plus a
visit to Dublin). We'd love to see any of the family (our family now!).
I'll have email access while we are then - email address is:
(*)

Look forward to seeing any of you!
Best Regards
Mike Levon (nee O'Connor)

I have in my tree:

Eliza Aldwell SANDYS born c1851 Roscommon died 8 Dec 1909 Barnes, Surrey

She married William CORDNER on 21 Sep1866 in Aghaderg.

She was the daughter of Basil SANDYS born 1800 Rathkeale died 7 Jul 1871 St Giles, Middlesex. His parents were Edwin SANDYS and Catherine ALDWELL.

Does she link in to your trees?

Hello distant relatives. I'm Lyndon from Australia and I too an a descendent of Alexander Sandys. He was my great, great, great, great grandfather. If any of you are still active/visiting this site, have you made any progress on documenting Alexander's history or ancestors? I am also related to John Dockrey who married Julia Maria Sandys in 1858.

Regards
Lyndon

Hallo, Lyndon - and welcome to Rootschat.

There has been no development on the Sandys search on this thread and I haven't yet proved any link to my Sandys/Aldwell line.  If I do find anything I will happily share with you.

Good hunting!
Philip

Thanks for the reply Philip. Hopefully someone else has turned up something. What Cosmo & Duncano have said on this and other threads sounds promising. Hopefully they have had more luck.

Cheers
Lyndon
