Perhaps grasping at straws here but could it be just an index you were looking at? And the complete records then found on another film which is anotated in the index? It has been a while since I looked up an Ontario birth record at the local FHL but it seems to me that was the procedure there and I would assume the Archives perhaps has the type of films? Anyway, food for thought.

I talked to Archives Ontario and was told that I would note the registration number from the Index(MS931 series) for the person whom I am interested in and then go to the Registration series (MS929) and look for the appropriate film containing the number taken from the Index. Parents names, address, fathers occupation etc should be recorded.
