He arrived England 12 May 1947 and married sometime before the end of June 1947.  To meet and marry someone within 7 weeks might be common in romance novels and during wartimes, but I would bet anything that if you were to obtain the marriage certificate from the GRO you would find that they married within days of his arrival and that they had carried on a postal romance over the previous 2 years.  Obtaining the cert might also give the name of his father in Canada to find his family roots there.
