Peter Ferguson married Catherine McLaren 1814 Kilmadock Perthshire according to information given to me his parents were Daniel Ferguson and Janet McLaren as viewing several Ferguson trees on ancestry it seems his parents were Alexander Ferguson and Janet Ferguson nee McLaren I have searched for peters birth and his marriage but no luck if anyone can help it would be great to hear from you

Hi Kate,

Peter was either born or baptised on the 19th November 1776 at the parish of Kincardine.
Peter married Catharine McLaren on the 16th July 1814 at Kilmardock, Perthshire.
On that record his parents were Daniel and Catharine Ferguson.

However, I am unable to find a marriage between 1760 -1778
What I did find is a marriage at Kincardine on the 5th June 1773 for Daniel Ferguson to
Janet McEwen. 
There is no marriage at all  for a Daniel FERGUSON to a CATHERINE after 1740

It looks to me that Peter's birth or baptismal record may have got mixed up with his marriage transcription and that has put Catherine his wife as his mother.
That is the only possible explanation I can see at this time, but like they say Check the original Record before you claim it.

So sorry Geoff and thanks for your help I gave you wrong info it states Pater Fergusons parents as Daniel Ferguson and Janet McLaren I have since found a copy that states Janet McEwen at least it made me look again
