Robert Reeve - Honingham
« on: Saturday 26 November 16 13:35 GMT (UK) »
Dear all,

I have having trouble moving backwards from Robert Reeve (c. 1725 - 1797).  I have found him in the 1768 poll book for Honingham (occupying land owned by John Cork, if I am reading it correctly).  I then have him marrying Ann Grand/Grant by licence in 1771.  On the licence, it states that both Robert and Ann were widower/widow, but I can't find a previous marriage for either of them.  On the licence, Robert gives his profession as shoemaker, resident in Honingham.  Ann was from East Tuddenham.

I would appreciate any hints or suggestions (or answers!!).

Many thanks,

Hello, you've probably seen that Robert and Ann have at least three sons, baptised in Honingham after their marriage - Thomas (1771) Robert (1773) and Stephen (1776).

I notice that a Tabitha, daughter of Robert Reeve and an unnamed wife is buried in the same parish in 1765.

It could be coincidence, but in the parish of Swannington (about seven miles to the north), a Robert REEVES is born to Roger and Tabitha in 1724, baptised on June 15th. Roger Reeve married Tabitha Curtis in Swannington in 1715.

Thank you Mike - I hadn't come across the Roger and Tabitha Reeves entry before.  It would certainly be worth investigating, I think!

Once again, thank you for pointing that one out!
