Lost Track of Aunt Maria CORBETT & her niece Emma CORBETT.
« on: Sunday 27 November 16 00:49 GMT (UK) »
Have not been able to find these two after the 1871 census for Maria & 1891 census for Emma.
Maria Hannah Elizabeth CORBETT bapt Nov 7 1858  Bishop’s Cleve Gloucestershire.
Parents James c1811 & Charlotte BERWICK c1816.
Have on 1861 census age 2 and 1871 census age 12 but nothing found from then on.

Emma CORBETT bapt 25 feb 1866 Prestbury Gloucestershire.
Parents Arthur c1845 & Mary Ann NEVILLE c1839. (Arthur is son of James & Charlotte).
Have found Emma on 1871 census with James & Charlotte, her Grandparents.
1881 census age 15 at home with Arthur & Mary, A General Servant Domestic.
1891 census age 25 with employer John Capps COOPER as Cook Domestic Servant. But she also seems to disappear from then on.

Just to confuse things further,
Arthur & Mary Ann also have a daughter Maria c1870 but have found most of her details.
James & Charlotte also have a daughter Emma c1849 also have most of her details as well.
Your help to track these ladies down would be most appreciated.

Was John Capps Cooper single or widowed?  Sometimes employers married their servants - I would look for him in 1901 just in case!

Emma born Cheltenham, looks to be the daughter of Walter & Mary A Court in 1871 :-\

Forget the John Capps Cooper as well, he was married to Jane and died before 1901 census.

Looking at the 1901 census for any Emma, born 1866 (+/- 2 years) in Prestbury turned up Emma Court. :-\
She was the only 1 in Gloucestershire.
I just thought it might be worthwhile looking at the census form?

The other 4 I found are all in Macclesfield, Cheshire - so all from Prestbury, Cheshire.

KGarrad, thanks, have looked at that Emma COURT and her mother appears to be Mary Ann MINETT c1842 married Walter COURT 12 Feb 1865 so unfortunately not her.
Milliepede, good thought, never thought to try that path, will remember that.
My next idea is that maybe, being so close in age, that they may have ventured overseas together, but no success so far finding them on the shipping records but will keep searching.

Yes I wondered that too, if they shipped off overseas together but not found anything yet.

as Maria's pob on 1871 is Southam, have fuond this possible person in Painswick on 1881

Henry Beck    24 - b Newbury, berks. Policeman
Maria Beck    22 - b Southam
Henry John Beck    1 - b westbury

RG11, 2542, 126, 1

Beck    Henry Froom        <<<
CORBETT    MARIA         <<<
James    Thomas
Morgan    Susannah

this from 1901 might seal it. In Cheltenham

Henry I Beck    21
Harry Beck    14
Lily Beck    10
Lottie Beck    4
Charlotte Corbett    85 b Twining, GLos. Boarder
