Stevington Knowledge
« on: Monday 28 November 16 21:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

Is there anyone here with knowledge of there being two public houses in Stevington please. I believe that there is one now called the Royal George on Silver Street, which i am sure is one of the one's i am after. The one i am looking for is on West End and i would like to know if there was one and if the building is still standing now, and what was the pub's name in the mid 1800's.

Any help would be hugely appreciated
Kind regards
Mike

Have you tried Beds Records Office website they have a section on Bedfordshire Pubs and have details of the ones in Stevington.
6 West End Stevington The Catherine Wheel or The Cock.

Hi,

Thank you, all three of you for your replies which have been hugely helpful. I think i have been able to sort out the family trade in public houses thanks to the links etc.

Kind regards

Also try locating a book, Stevington, the village history, by Stevington Historical Trust. ISBN 0-9540703-1-3 (paperback). A very useful book that is well written on the village.
