If this was in England or Wales, the legal Adoption began in 1927?
So you couldn't have been "given" to anybody? It was illegal!

Birth Registration (from FreeBMD):
June qtr 1939

Beech, Margaret I     Mother's Maiden Name: Jenner

Just to update this thread, I did a bit of digging in the chatroom just now.

My proposed state of affairs as a result:

It's possible that Ethel M married Benjamin BEECH as mentioned by avm (with one male child). I can't see the 1939 "census" entry but can see the index, wherein her name is also "BLUNDY". I think she may have married Harold BLUNDY back down in Kent, although he appears to have died a year later. I think her death may have taken place in Coventry, where someone matching the name of her son also dies so perhaps she was with him there.

Have suggested this as a route of investigation :)

There is also an Elsie Jenner married a Frank Beech 1935 Hastings

You would need the birth certificate to move forward.

I'm pretty sure the OP has the birth certificate. In chat, the mother's name was given as Ethel Maude.
