Hi
I am trying to find some information on Daniel Spires Turner, my wife's grandfather.
He was, we think married to Elizabeth Turner from Middlesbrough (b1908-d1990)
They had a son Arthur Edward Spires Turner (b1931-d1975) living in stockton.
In 1956 they were living at 6 Rampside Avenue Stockton

The only Daniel Spires I can find is from West Ham in 1903, although a family of Spires was living in Guisborough around the correct birth time but no Daniel..

Hi - this is a bit confusing!  Was he Daniel Spires or Daniel Spires Turner?

I see that the mother's maiden name on Arthur's birth registration was Turner.  The order of Arthur's names on the birth registration suggests his parents may not have been married.  Have you found a marriage for them? I haven't been able to.

Yes Elizabeth Turner is listed on 1911 census at 49 Bridge street West in Middlesbrough.
We were told she died at North Tees Hospital in 1990
She was married 3 times I think she was called Elizabeth Hodgkins then.

From the info you have given - it sounds as though Arthur was illegitimate.  Did he name a father on his marriage cert?

Does his birth cert show a fathers name?
