A 1940 will COMPLETED末MANY THANKS
« on: Sunday 04 December 16 18:55 GMT (UK) »
A rather basic question. I've never before had to deal with so recent a will, but I'd love to see a copy of a forebear's 1940 will. I found the basics in probate search末 names of executors, etc, but ideally I'd like details of bequests and any other incidental details that might help me in my long quest to find out what became of my 'missing' grandfather. Would  someone with experience in the matter of wills be kind enough to give me an idea of what I need to do in order to see the details of the actual will?

I presume you found it here?

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

All you need to do is find the will you need, fill in the details and pay 」10. The Will will be emailed to you within a few days.

When you get it, make sure that you download it and save it to your computer, as after a month you can't see it on the site.

Make sure as well that it doesn't just say Administration, as that is just a legal document issued by a Probate Registry when a person has died without making a valid will, so there will be no will to see.

Thanks again: I'll take your advice and take a copy for my computer files as soon as the item arrives. In addition to the will I first mentioned I have managed to locate another two from the same family.
With best wishes
