Dissenting minister in Selston
« on: Tuesday 06 December 16 19:58 GMT (UK) »
An ancient direct line of mine - Richard and Mary Clark(e) (nee Skinner) had ten children baptised at Selston Parish Church between 1756 and 1775 all by a dissenting vicar.   This information is from a CD and has not yet been checked by me in the original PRs.
Could anyone shed some light please on why this would happen in the Parish Church when apparently the proper vicar was in situ?
The couple married at Selston in 1755, whether that was by a dissenter too, I don't yet know.

Thanks.
NC.
