Hampshire archives - medical records 'look up' please!?
« on: Tuesday 06 December 16 22:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi all! Hoping to find records for 2 people....

I am hoping someone in Hampshire can help me out. Hampshire archives (winchester) hold records for 'Knowle hospital' where I know my Great-nan, as well as her sister were both admitted (it is a lunatic asylum).

I would love to see some of their records to know more about them, but it costs more than I can afford per half hour to pay someone who works at the archive to look into the records for me and I don't live in England.

If anybody is near, or already going to the archives could you please possibly try and look for those medical records of my 2 relatives?

Their names are: Bertha Annie Trott (nee Lynch) born 1887 and her sister Laura May Beesley (nee Lynch) born 1893. Laura died in 1967 whilst at Knowle hospital.

Cheers

Have you checked that these records are available to view.  Many hospital/institution records are subject to 80/100 years restriction

You may also still have to pay for an archivist to look at them as they may contain details of other folk on the same page.

If the medical records are too difficult to search - it would also be useful if somebody could check Burial records held at Hampshire archives for Knowle cemetry, as I believe Laura May BEESLEY nee TROTT died whilst at Knowle hospital and therefore may be buried in it's cemetry.. her death was in 1967
