has anybody any idea where this place  may be please .   i have found an ancester saying they were born in    wharters in yorkshire. but cannot find anywhere named that any ideas please it was in 1858

It doesn't seem to be the name of a town/village, so I would suggest either:
a) a street name
b) a mis-spelling or mis-transcription
Transcribing Essex records for FreeREG.
Current parishes - Burnham, Purleigh, Steeple.

Additional point, if you give the census ref and name, age, location of who you are seeking then maybe this census or later cenus can possibly help determine pob.

There is a David Hockney painting, Trees near Warter.
I think it's in East Yorks.
