Hello all.
I am revisiting this family with hopes of finding John Craig' birth.
On his death, it says he was 85 in 1906 which puts his birth around 1820 or 1821.
I have searched SP and no luck.

John's father is listed on the death registration as John -  soldier and there is no mother named.

Does anyone have some ideas of where I could look next for John, b c1820 in Blairgowrie/Edinburgh?

If it's not on Scotland's People, the record has almost certainly not survived.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Have you tried Craik just incase?

You may already have this information but just in case you haven't, I found the following article from the Dundee Courier dated 1900 which mentions John Craig.
