Elizabeth Ann Clayton
« on: Saturday 10 December 16 01:12 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me with a passenger look-up please?  Elizabeth Ann Parker (nee Clayton) emigrated from the UK to the USA around 1892-1893.  Her husband, George Parker, emigrated apparently later on The Teutonic from Liverpool to New York, New York, arriving 18 October 1893.
George Parker, age 24 years and 11 months, married, Druggist, native country England, intended destination Brooklyn.  He had one piece of baggage.  He was intending to stay permanently.

Elizabeth Ann appears on the 1900 census living in New York with the Harell family.  She calls herself Annie Clayton, divorced, 5 children, 2 living.  These children are not living with her on the census. She had two children in England before she emigrated. Both died as infants.  She then had 2 children in the US.  George Parker born Brooklyn, 1894 (stated as her fourth child), and Constance Parker born 1896 Brooklyn, died 1898.  Did she emigrate with the third child, born in the UK?  Was she expecting when she emigrated and was the third child born in 1893 in the USA?

Any help would be much appreciated.  :)

Hello
They had family in Lancashire (Accrington) and Elizabeth Ann lived there with her aunt for some years when she was young.  George sailed from Liverpool but Elizabeth Ann may have sailed from another port - Southampton?

When her son, George, was born in Brooklyn in 1894, she called herself Elizabeth Ann Clayton-Parker.

George and Elizabeth Ann were living in London with her parents (Thomas and Ellen Clayton) in the 1891 census.

Hello HeatherJulie

Thank you for your reply.  The second one could be her, although she or someone has given the wrong age.  She was born in 1873 so would have been 20, not 26.  I have had other relatives going to the US who have given very different ages, for some reason.  The first one is too old and she had her fourth child in NY in 1894 so probably wouldn't have been travelling then, and not to Canada.  This means that she had another child in the UK before she left, so if I can verify the birth of Flo (Florence?) then I can be sure that it is her.  She certainly would have been travelling alone as her husband emigrated later.  This just might be it!  Thank you so much.  :D
