This is George's death:

George Yates born 25th October  1893 died aged 83 in December quarter 1976, Mansfield

George Yates in Mansfield in 1939 is with a Hilda K Yates, so probably this marriage:

Marriages December quarter 1914
Hilda K Ricks    Mansfield  7b   174
 George Yates   Mansfield  7b   174

Look for Yates/Ricks children?    (Rather a lot)

If this is Frank's birth:
Births March quarter 1901
Frank Yates   Mansfield    7b   135
then he could have been born at the end of 1900 to 1901.

Cannot see a death.

There is this death in Mansfield, but someone would be out with his year of birth:
Frank Yates died aged 81 in September quarter 1980 in Mansfield
Birth Date  11th  January 1899

From free bmd John William Yates appears to be born in 1896 not 1897:

Births December quarter 1896
John William Yates     Mansfield

The marriage to Lily Westwood is in 1966?

Added:
You can find Yates/Westwood births on free bmd from 1932 in Mansfield, and then some of the family in 1939, including John W and Lily in Warsop. (Also look for Yates-Westwood in 1939)

Annie,
You have put:
baptised
1892 06 28   (dob 1892 08 09)    Amy   YATES

presumably this birth, so baptism date wrong?

Births September quarter  1892
 Amy Yates   Mansfield    7b   98

Cannot see a marriage in Mansfield, so this might be her death:
Amy Yates death at age 63 in September quarter 1955 in Mansfield

But cannot see her in 1939 census.

Sorry, yes, I got the baptism and birth dates the wrong way around there!

Thank-you,

I was considering did dob mean date of baptism, which just shows how bad abbreviations can be.
I was also considering american date order, because that also throws me.

On the 1939 free search the John W Yates with Lily Yates-Westwood has a birth year of 1892 - as I do not have full access I do not know whether there is an error in transcription.
