Just a quick question  ......  Is Mellor in Derbyshire or Cheshire..... or on the border of both???

Cheran ::)

From GenUKI:
"MELLOR, a chapelry in the parish of Glossop, in the High Peak hundred, is two miles from Marple, six and a half from Glossop, eight from Chapel-en-le-Frith, seven from Stockport, and 14 from Manchester. The church, dedicated to St. Thomas, which is of stone, is erected on a commanding situation, a short distance from the village.

So, close to the borders of Lancashire and Cheshire.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

A question, Cheran, where does the surname Hill, for Elizabeth, come from?  Why do you think that Joseph married Elizabeth Hill?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks for asking..... I was initially looking at a birth in Hayfield district William Bradbury with MMN of Hill, so as starting working back from there....

It seems more likely that the William Bradbury with MMN of Stanney is my William....

Thanks for these   a great help.   I have driven some of these roads on a previous trip but no wonder I get confused with the county.

I will need to check my database I think.

Non Conformist records can usually be found in more than one place.
The actual church/chapel record and then the circuit record which was compiled to bring the non conformist records together for that parish
I think that the two baptisms for Joseph are one and the same.
The one at Mill Brow being the actual chapel record and the Stockport one would be the circuit record.
