Burial Location for Raymond and Charlotte Mustoe
« on: Tuesday 20 December 16 05:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to locate the burial location for Raymond Edward Mustoe (1864 -1937) and his wife Charlotte Ada Mustoe (1870 - 1954)

I have the following from Gloucestershire BMD but not been able to find the burial locations..

Raymond Edward Mustoe 1937 Age 74   Cirencester Reg 1A 170

Mustoe  Charlotte A  1954 Age 84  Cirencester  Reg 7B 374

Any further help in identifying where my ancestors are buried would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Colin

Even though their deaths were registered in Cirencester, they could have died, and probably been buried, in any one of a number of surrounding villages. To make any progress I think you have to get a copy death certificate. I would suggest Raymond's which should show his place of death and possibly indicate his residence if different. Charlotte may well have moved after his death and been taken back to his place of burial.

The National Archives in conjunction with Find my Past  1939 census is available on line. I don't subscribe, but you could get brief details e.g.

Searching for C Mustoe Cirencester

Ada C MUSTOE birth 1870 Cirencester: in the household is Walter H MUSTOE and 2 more people.

Certain people in the household are blanked out if they could still be alive today.

Obituaries in local newspapers can give more details of the funeral etc.

Might be worth asking Cotswold District Council before you get deaths certs unless they are picky about having actual dates of death

Can't see Charlotte definitiely after 1937 - and oddly although she's clearly on the images prewar in Tetbury, she's not been indexed!

Hi

Sorry its been so long.

I have finally got a copy of death certificate for Raymond.
His place of death in 1937 was Siddington, but I see no burial in Siddington for him on FindMyPast.
Also cannot find any possible burial in Tetbury area.

The couple were living with Raymond's brother Walter.
Charlotte is still living at the same address in Siddington on 1939 register.

Maybe he was cremated.
Are there any records available for cremations in Gloucestershire

Thanks
Colin

Hi Colin

The link I posted earlier is now broken but replaced by this

https://www.cotswold.gov.uk/environment/cemeteries-and-estates/

Try there first, then maybe

https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/births-marriages-deaths-and-civil-partnerships/coroners-service-burials-and-cremations/

They should be able to drect you to cemeteries in the are where he may be buried if not in the parish churchyard.

Cremation may not be out of the question but by 1937 when he died there were only 37 crematoria in the UK, Cheltenham opened in 1938. If cremation was his choice it would have been a long journey.

The burial records on FindMyPast are not complete either.

Hi

Firstly thank you..
I have dropped off my research somewhat, so hence the reason for not following up your information earlier.

I have just contact the first of your references, and wait to see if any helpful info follows.

Once again thank you

Best wishes
