irregular marriages at Lamberton Toll

Does anyone have access to these records. I have a Mary Wylie marrying John Ritchie  both of Berwick on 28 May, 1845. Wondering if the record would say if Mary was a widow. Thanks Retire

Hi - as this post was a few months ago you may already have this info, but just in case:

Lamberton Toll May 28, 1845 Robert Richie & Mary Wylie both of Berwick. Wit. Alexander Wylie, Jane Steeley her mark.
Source: Vol 1 Irregular Border Marriages published by the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society

The entries don't often give the marital status - did they have any children? If so, were the births registered in England? You could check the new online GRO index www.go.gov.uk to see what the mother's maiden name is given as. Or find the baptisms and see what info they give.

You could also find out whether Alexander was a brother or a son, which might help answer your question. You could also investigate the other witness to see if there is a family relationship.
