COMPLETE Thank you. Help deciphering place name in Galway, Ireland
« on: Friday 30 December 16 00:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,
I have a place I cannot decipher or find on a death record from Headford, Tuam, Galway, Ireland.
I think it begins with an 'E'.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Spent a bit of time looking for this place but no luck so far, can you give use the year or better still a link to the page so we can see if there is another example of it and have a look at the handwriting.

Thanks to both of you, I have also tried searching everything I could think of but I couldn't find anything either.
I can't post the name because it is for someone who died as a baby and their sibling is still living and it would cause distress to them.
I appreciate you taking the time to help.

Hello,

Can you cross reference it with other BMDs of family members around the same time? I think you would only get marriages and deaths though.

No, sadly I have tried that. The death place is not where any of the birth, marriage or other death places have been.
Ancestor hunting is very tricky!

Found the record, it does appear to say Emoon, there isn't another capital E on the page, need to look at bit more at that registar's writing.

If the family weren't from the area they maybe pronounced the name place oddly, but you would expect the registar to realise that.

Thank you so much for looking, I appreciate the help.
Emoon or Emson was as close I could get too, going by the handwriting comparison, but I can't find anything on either Emoon or Emson!
The informant of the death I don't recognise as a family member, they may turn out to be in the future, but I know it doesn't help things now.

The informant has the same address, maybe the employer, he might be worth a closer look if possible.
