the robbs new deer aberdeenshire
« on: Saturday 31 December 16 21:34 GMT (UK) »
hello, I'm looking for members of the robb family of new deer aberdeenshire, the father was George robb, a Taylor. and Marjorie was the youngest daughter of 13 I think. Majorie married Thomas bassett and lived in north wales, I'd love to know if there are cousins about the area or elsewhere to my mum margaret, Marjorie's daughter.

Hi pipsqeak

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

This looks like the family in 1901:

Geo Robb
Elsie Robb 48 tailor's wife
Helen Robb 19
James Robb 13
Margrett Robb 10
John Robb 8
Francis Robb 6
Majory Robb 3
Wm White Robb 2
Allan Robb 2 months

Address: Netherton Greens, Millbrex, Monquiter Aberdeenshire

The transcript is not complete and can't easily find this family in 1891 so far to help further. You could check the original image on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Likely this entry for them in 1881:

George Robb 32 Tailor (Journeyman) b. Rathen, Aberdeenshire
Elspet Robb 25 b. Monquhitter, Aberdeenshire
Barbara Jane Robb 3
George Robb 2
Helen Robb 10 Months

Address: Blackhouse, Methlick

I think Elspet/Elsie has the maiden name of Johnston.

Thankyou very much Monica and for the welcome, Marjory robb is my grandmother, how might I find mum's cousins if they are still living? I will try scotlands people, also I think there is an aberdeenshire family tree search for a fee. my grandmother moved to north wales when she married so it would be nice for mum to trace cousins back in aberdeenshire or elsewhere, some are in Canada I think. thankyou pipsqueak.

Hi pipsqeak

There are a number of family trees on Ancestry for this line. These are normally put on by connected family so you could well find some connected descendants that way. You need a subscription to Ancestry to be able to view them. If you don't, you can likely access through your local library if they have the library edition of Ancestry.

There is also this old post on another forum by someone connected to Margaret, sister to Marjorie http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/ABERDEEN/2002-06/1023409331

Hi,
My name is Andrew Robb. I have a wooden coat hanger with the name "George Robb, gold and silver medalist Tailor, The Causeway Teddington" stamped on it.
My Father was James Robb of Auchnagatt Aberdeenshire.

Hi Andy, welcome to rootschat. Is George your grandfather? What an intriguing item! I wonder if there's a way of finding out more about the medals?
regards,

hello andy,
my robb family lived in new deer, aberdeenshire, george and elsie,
george was a taylor, there were 13 children i think, and the youngest
marjorie my grandmother. one of her siblings was called james,
so may i ask if you might be related to that family, maybe through
him, or the next generation?
