John Gall & Mary Robb married 18th June 1864 in Old Deer.
For some reason, it is now appearing on the SP index, which it wouldn't do this morning!

George Robb 32 Tailor (Journeyman) b. Rathen, Aberdeenshire
Elspet Robb 25 b. Monquhitter, Aberdeenshire
Barbara Jane Robb 3
George Robb 2
Helen Robb 10 Months
There's a George Robb, born Rathen 8 May 1847, parents James Robb and Christian Scott. On the other hand there's no Christian with them in either 1881 or 1901.

George Robb and Elspet Johnston were married in Aberdeen St Nicholas in 1876. It would be worth a look at that marriage certificate to see who their parents were.

The Robbs are at Salterhills, Rathen in 1851.  James Robb married again on 18th July 1857, Rathen, to Isabella Williamson. He was the son of James Robb & Grace Johnston. James senior(born circa 1780) can be found in 1841 & 1851 censuses in Rathen. In 1861 James & Isabella are at Middle Hythie. George can be found in the 1871 census as a boarder in New Street, Kintore. He is a tailor journeyman.

Dare I ask which ones? James Robb and Christian Scott's family?

Forfarian, yes, that's why I commented on James' second marriage. It explains why you couldn't find Christian on any later censuses. George is with his Dad & stepmother in 1861.

Not me - I haven't been looking for him on any other census. I did wonder if it might be possible to tie this George Robb to the other one, but so far any link has eluded me.

That's what I meant, Christian had died before the 1861 census :) I too had hoped to find a link but none so far.

My mistake. What I meant was that there was no sign of a grandchild named Christian in 1881 or 1901.
