Thanks Sandra.   Yes, I am a relative, and have now contacted Maureen.   I am a son of Guy Barr, and therefore, I suppose, Henry Keith Barr's nephew - although of course he died long before I was born.

I contacted your nephew to let him know the CWGC were looking for relatives.  Maureen helped find the missing son and I researched Alexander again from there and sent e-mails with all the information on Alexander, Patrick and his daughter and husband to your father.  Sadly he never acknowledged that research.

Sorry if I did not explain myself properly.   My father was Henry Keith Barr's brother.   My father died in 1962.    I am now in my eighties.  But many thanks.   The thread has been most helpful.

I'm with you now. Your father was Arthur Guy Barr ?  Will you be able to contact CWGC ?  It looks as if Commonwealth Graves Commission are going to honour Henry Keith Barr by commemorating a headstone.

Thanks.   Yes you have it right.   My nephew is named for my father.   I have already emailed CWGC, and will sort things out with them.   Thanks for your part in it.

You're very welcome.  It is fantastic that many of these men are now being commemorated and honoured by CWGC.  Hopefully we will find more relatives of all the others.

I have just registered. I can fill in a few gaps. Patrick Barr's daughter is my second cousin. Her grandfather was Alexander David StClair Barr. My grandfather who I think was called Guy was presumably another of the 3 sons of Sir David Barr. He divorced my grandmother, remarried and moved to Edinburgh. His first wife (my grandmother) was Marcia Reyne. She reverted to her maiden name of Huish. She had 4 children - My father (Outram David Guy Barr), Lavender, Jacqueline and Susan. His second marriage was to Iris and there were three further children: Gavin, St Clair and a female whose name I cannot recall. My father and his sisters are all dead, as is StClair. I don't know about the other 2 siblings.

As the Barr family seems to have recycled their names quite a lot, I am not absolutely certain that the Arthur Guy Barr, son of Sir David Barr, was actually my grandfather. I only saw him twice in my life, and both times when I was a child. There was also very little contact with my side of the family. I think he probably was, but anyone confirm the position?
