Hi Folks,

With the knowledge that no possible living people can be named I will give enough info. to receive the help I need.

I'm researching the family (descendants) of an offshoot (1st cousin with 3 removes).

Neil McKinnon 1858 - 1931 & Catherine Mooney c1858 - 1924 (if age on death is correct) married 1885 Anderston, Glasgow.

One of their sons John McKinnon b 11 Nov 1893 at 166 Merry St, Dalziel, Motherwell.

John (in subject heading) was informant on his father's death 1931 living at Lochend St, Motherwell.

John married Catherine Daly b c1900 in 1927 Craigneuk, Dalziel & his address was 69 Lochend St, Motherwell.

Catherine's parents were Peter Daly & Catherine McGowan.

I found an entry with a g/child born 1950 to 'a' Mr & Mrs John McKinnon of Lochend St, Motherwell.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01j8c/

I would like to know if there's a marital surname attached to the mother of the child?

Her initial is 'C' but I can only see part of the entry & would appreciate a marital surname initial if it exists?

I have found a possible marriage with husband's surname beginning 'G' but reluctant to pay full price for such a distant connection at the moment with no real idea whether connected?

Any help appreciated.

Annie

Thanks Claire,

That was quick...was about to post what I left out but no need now!

I think I have the correct one then!

Was the child named, an initial would be grand  ;)

No child mentioned it was the report of their  MARRIAGE.

I shall see if there are any children in other articles although the newspapers are only listed until 1953

Thanks Claire,

Shouldn't be hard to trace, not a Scottish surname for starters but that original post was headed under 'births'?

"B—THE MOTHERWELL TIMES Births
Motherwell, to Catherine, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John McKinnon, 44 Lochend Street, Motherwell."

Won't matter, gives me enough to go on, thanks  :)

Claire,

I would put a bet on...the daughter being named Catherine too!

Mother & both g/mother's named Catherine  ;D

SP will reveal 'though.

Superb now the Index is free...such a great help & so much less costly to find potentials for sure!!!

Yes I've found that happens on the BNA too, extra info from other articles on the page.

It was definitely a marriage entry though, hope it's enough for what you need.

In another article later that year dated 22 Dec. 1950

MCKINNON - At Law Hospital Carluke (as the result of an accident) on December 15th Peter younger son of Mr and Mrs John McKinnon 44 Lochend Street. RIP

Thanks Claire,

That I would say is a son as Catherine's father was Peter!

Can you PM me any details please, I take it that was a death entry?
