Tangled love lives lead to tangled family trees ' Genograms

I am struggling to display the following graphically.

Scenario One:

Tom & May marry 1927 and have a child 1928
Tom & May separate 1930
May & Eric have a brief relationship and a love child 1932
May & Cecil have a child 1938 and marry 1940
Tom & Dot marry 1939

Ideally I want males on the left, females on the right.  Is this possible to draw?


Scenario Two:

Matt marries Jane, they have children, then Jane dies.
Matt marries Elizabeth, Jane's baby sister.  Jane and Elizabeth have other siblings in between them in age.

How can I draw this without causing confusion by not having Jane and Elizabeth and other siblings in
date order, left to right?

Does anyone know if the free (crippled to 25 names) version of Genopro might help?

My free version of Genopro doesn't seem to limit number of names

I've come up with this (attachment, if I'm doing it right).  I don't like it, but it might prompt some improvements.  The kinks are unintentional.  I want the various liaisons on the same line, and the various offspring on the same generational level.

My version allows me to straighten out lines, move people about and even place 'unattached' individuals on the page (handy while waiting to prove a connection).

Partly answering my own question, I have found the free version of Genopro at http://www.genopro.com/ very useful for working out how to draw the lines on my large tree diagram.  I'm not connected (pun) in anyway to the company, but the click and drag feature is very good.  Import all or a pinpointed sub-section of your GEDCOM, and then edit it.  It is quite bewildering for the first hour, then it all starts to make sense.  You can print to PDFs.  I'm surprised that I'd never heard of it before.  It's not specifically genealogy software, more specifically it is for drawing Genograms.  I've also found it good for printing sub-sections of a tree without acres of blank pages.

I use a good old fashioned Spreadsheet.
Then when I send it to anyone or I need to take it and show people (who don't have equipment or it doesn't recognize my  PC versions) it is ready on my Seagate, or SD Card or Dongle.
I copy the latest version to all gadgets and then everyone can see it.
Easy
There is also a great Print shop near me and I can have it printed as big as I want.
