Would it be possible to know an approximate date for this photograph, maybe Joshua Raphael Joseph b 1848. And what is going on with his hair?  ::)

Until the daters come along, you may want to have a look at this...

I am guessing that they were an upmarket studio.

The photo studio was in business between 1863 and 1871.

The studio was at both addresses between 1866 and 1871.

With the square corners I would date this to late 1860s early 1870s.

Late 1860's-early 70's back. There's nothing going on with his hair, this was the style.
Imagine him in a stovepipe hat.
