Crawford and Roberts in Sligo
« on: Thursday 12 January 17 15:56 GMT (UK) »
Once again I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light on what is, at the moment, a brick wall!!

My knowledge and geography of Ireland is sketchy at best so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to find some information regarding a marriage which I think occurred in Sligo some time before 1848. I have a William Crawford who married (I believe) a Catherine Roberts. They appear on the 1851 Census in England where they went on to have further children. From what I can gather they had two children in Ireland, George b.1842 and Fanny b.1846. The only clue to where William and Catherine came from is that the 1871 gives their birthplaces as Co. Sligo.

Their ages seem to vary depending on which census you look at, both giving birth dates between 1810 and 1822.

Hopefully there's some kind person out there who may be able to help me out!

Do you know what religion they might have been?

Registration of non-Catholic marriages started 1845 but Catholic marriages, births and deaths from 1864.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
