Hi Trish,

Thank you very much for all of that detail.

I am trying to do it all properly. So the certificate back ups behind the research is key for me.

Would you think that the 1867 marriage of James FORMAN and Jane FORMAN, with Jane's father being Charles SALTER. Is her in question as well? Seems now with the goings on it could be a tribute to both Knight and Salter sides of the family.

Once I get the other certificates just ordered and it is Sarah Salter. I will move on with all that has been said. Hopefully a Dockerill will be easy to find...  :)

Hi Ladyhawk,

Thank you very much for that information.

I had just seen that in the 1841 census a few minutes ago.

You all seem to do this so fast. Brilliantly explained as well  :)

When you have all the Certs let us know please.

As to the Gowlers it appears FreeREG may be a good source;
Eg;

County, Cambridgeshire
Place, Chatteris
Church, St. Peter
Baptism Date   04 Feb 1798
Forename   Lavinah GOWLER
Sex   F
Father Forename Dockril
Mother Forename   Mary
Father Occupation Labourer
Notes Infant
5 Siblings, John 1788/Mary 1794/Mary 1796/Dockrill 1800/Ann 1804
Dockrill Jnr died 1801
There are so many spelling of Dockrills name on the records, he is a witness at a Marriage 1788 where he is Dockwray!

But this for later :)

Looks like Lavinah had a illeg Daug MARY who died 1818
Dockerill died 1833 age 73
Wife Mary 1807 age 46 (under Gowlar)

Thanks for keeping us updated, and the mother being Sarah Salter is good news too.

I don't think that Charles Bedford & Charles Knight are the same people though, as Charles Knight was baptised 09 Mar 1823 at St Nicholas, Lutton the son of James Knight, Labourer, & Elizabeth.  There is a marriage at Lutton on 08 May 1811 between James Knight & Elizabeth Leefevre, which I assume to be the same couple.
