Trying to find information about my great grandfather Robert Gray

Unfortunately i dont have a lot of information and with such a common name is proving difficult but here is what i do know...

He was born in UK but dont know where. He was a british soldier stationed in Bangalore. His birth date was 1895. He married my great grandmother Amy isis Maud Gibson 24th July 1918. Marriage certificate had him listed as soldier for occupation. Her father's name was Sabio Sutherland Gibson and his father was listed as Robert Gray as well.

They had two children Osborne Ramsey ( born 1919)& Dorothy Maud (my grandmother- born 1921)

He moved to Australia in early 1920's and illegally remarried an australian woman whilst his family in India. My great grandmother, grandmother and great uncle moved to Australia in late 1920's. marriage between my great grandparents ended in 1931. Any direct help or links to where I could get further info would be appreciated.I have scoured ancestry records as well as find my past. and a few India based websites but have hit roadblocks.

Unfortunately on 1901 census there are 12 Robert Gray with father of the same name, where was he married ?

I asked for 1895 plus or minus 1 year

If you can access Ancestry there is a family tree with this man and his wife listed, it shown he was never in England

Yes i found same problem. he was married in Bangalore India. Havent been able to determine when he arrived in India to serve.

The Ancestry tree shows him being born in Canada, a sibling was born in Toronto,  I wonder if you ought to try the Canada board

Yes i found that tree, i have a feeling whoever made that tree has the wrong link. he was definitely british serving in british army and marriage recorded with British India offices. The other family tree had him listed as Robert L Gray. My great father in what I have found with australian records + marriage certificate was only Robert. bummer having such a common name. Thanks for your searching though

If he was 'British' he could certainly have been born in Canada- have you tried contacting the tree owner? (lots of people don't put all the information they've gathered up online)

Extract gives bride's name as Amy Isia Maud Gibson-

In view of father's middle name Sutherland wonder if that middle name is Isla?
