I see that in 1901 Jane is living with her daughter Agnes Bennett, and buried together at Burmantofts Cemetery (Beckett Street Cemetery) are the following:

1909: Fred Bennett, 47
1914: Jane McLeod, 80
1942: Agnes Bennett, 77

The 1876 burial for William McLeod aged 42 was at the same cemetery on 25 Apr 1876, although it looks like it may have been a common grave.  The address given was Buslingthorp Court if that's of any help?

Well, that's the one! Many many thanks to you rosie99 and Jomot.
Did you find it in cemetery records?

The burial information is from the Yorkshire Indexers site, which for £10 a year is a fantastic little resource.

The burial may be elsewhere - I haven't checked - but being able to see who is in the same grave can often save on having to buy death certificates.

Right-oh! Now I've got the info from you, Jomot, ancestry has found me a record for William McLead. You'd have thought it would have found it from a broad search of McLeod..... Still, it's a mystery solved and I can move on to a different branch of my tree tomorrow.  Thankyou
Also thanks to CB53 for the military service which I'd already got some idea about. He was a bloomin' drummer. I loathe drums and drumming  😀

The record I gave is his birth registration, not his military service . You should be able to order a copy from GRO .
