« on: Tuesday 17 January 17 17:26 GMT (UK) »
Hello good people of the forum. I'm trying to find the exact date of my Great Grandmother with no success. I hope someone can help please. Her name was Maud Mckeowen, born in Exeter in 1884, Oct, Nov, Dec?? Father Samuel McKeowen, Mother Louisa. Thank you all for your time :-)

The only way is to purchase her birth cert (from the GRO for £9-25),or hope she's been baptised and the vicar wrote the date of birth in the margin(rare).

You might find if she died after 1969,that her death cert gives her DOB,but then that is going to be down to the informant actually knowing the date.

Further to what Carol says, if she was still alive and in England in 1939, you may potentially find her date of birth on the 1939 register.

She seems to have been registered at birth as Maud Mary McKeowen and recorded as such in 1891, but married as Maud Margaret McKeowen (22 Dec 1909 Exeter, to William Robert Brown).

Thank you for quick responses! :-) It was the 1939 register that I was trying to find her on, there is a Maud Margaret Brown (married name)born 30th Dec 1884 have no idea who the John is on there but its not as far as I'm aware one of William or Maud's children. on the register in London, where they lived. They did live in Lewisham but this is for somewhere else in London.

You say that her birth was registered in the Dec 1/4 of 1884.

That would be most unlikely to be the same person who was born on 30th December, who would be far more likely to be registered early in Jan, ie the March 1/4 of 1885.

Ah,OK, makes sense, I've another thread on the Lewisham side of things trying to find my G Grandfather William Browns( Maud's husband) death record, I can't find that or Maud or William on the 1939 register. I'll keep hunting, thank you all anyway
