1851 census shows her b 1791 Guernsey.  Somebody has notified an error in Adams birthyear back in 2012 so may be researching the same family.  If you have an Ancestry sub you can make contact with them

Mark and Benjamin seem to be around later so perhaps it was John that died.

I think Elizabeth is with son Benjamin in 1861 although her birth place is down as Wincanton Dorset.

Ah I wonder if John was theirs because there is a baptism 1826 John Shearn with different parents - Charles and Mary.  Possibly he was a nephew.

hi CaroleW & Milliepede thanks for your replies. bath bmd has adams death as 1855 age 52 making birth 1803 and elizabeths death 1867 age 73 making birth 1794. I suppose not clear writing could mistake 94 for 91. I hadn't thought of john not being a son. my past notes do have wincanton for her birth but maybe benjamin filled that census in being the head? she would possibly have known what her husband put in the 1851 census? thanks again. Ann

The 1851 is the only whiff of Guernsey.  1841 has Yes for born in County (Somerset) although very faint to read.

Baptism for Mark was 25 Sep 1825

Baptism for John was 18 Jun 1826 - born 15 May 1826
so I think you can safely discount him
