Looking for a marriage record
« on: Thursday 19 January 17 18:38 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to help a friend find the marriage record for her mother and father.

Her father's name was Charles Patrick Barron and her mother was Janette Potson Shanks.

They may have married in the Catholic church in Donaghadee around 1934.

Can anybody help?
Researching the names Mckenzie / Mackenzie from Ross and Cromarty especially Scoraig and Rherivach.

The names Fraser, MacGillivary and Grant from Daviot & Dunlichity.

The name of Fraser from Lanarkshire.

The name of Bell from Northumberland.

The name Chilla / Chylla / Chyla from Poland.

Is it definitely County Westmeath? I didn't know that there is a Donaghadee in County Westmeath and 'google' is struggling to find one as well.  There is of course one well over 100 miles to the northeast in County Down and GRONI online has a marriage registered in Ards district, County Down, for a Janette Shanks and Charles Barrow (mistranscription?), it took place on 17 August 1935, could that be them? Choosing the 'Full' view option (currently £2.50) will show a digitised image of the original registration:

... Her father's name was Charles Patrick Barron and her mother was Janette Potson Shanks ...

Someone with that full name was born on 28 July 1912 to Charles Barron and Annie Johnston of Greenwell Street, Newtownards, County Down:

The family in 1911:

The parent's marriage in 1899, the fathers were John Barron and Robert Johnston:

Just posting as a possibility because of the rather singular name...
